life is growth

May 17, 2011

everything in this universe comes from just one substance/source – (some call it the Almighty) … and the inherent nature of that substance is growth … it finds out ways from the universal abundance to express its inherent desire for growth … and remember – what one may consider as limitations – is just appearance/perception but TRUTH is limitless!

the fullest expression of life/growth is visible all around us – one such view that reassured my faith in ‘everything is possible’ is depicted in the picture below – grass growing amidst the ultimate adversity – it is peeping from the crack of an asphalt road 🙂

what are your views on your so called obstacles, now?

and – it works again! :)

Oops … my RUN training hit a minor roadblock – there was this mysterious pain in the back/neck which troubled me the past week – Thank GOD, its gone now! And I am confident 10k on 31st is going to be a ‘cakewalk’

Raising ‘social investments’ for RangDe too needs your prayers 🙂 Raising 72k from 186 more ’social investors’ in just one more day may seem impossible … but I am hopeful 🙂

Do you know why? – I am going to a dinner event tomorrow … Yes, I may not meet 186 people out there but I will not be surprised if I meet atleast the other target (by raising required 72k) … After all, GOD moves in a mysterious way!

miles to go …

Pattu is skilled in making of bags and flower pots using plastic wires. She makes lot of these goods and sells them in the weekly market. Since she did not have money to invest, she was not able to produce more goods even though she has enough demand.

Dhanabakiam is an ‘established’ tailor and she is now getting regular orders for uniforms from schools & bags from textile and fancy stores. She wants to increase her sales by buying a new embroidery machine.

Neither of them wants to give up their dignity and get burdened with the obligation of ‘donation’ or ‘charity’ 😦

A ‘social investment’ helps them be a WINNER in their own right! 🙂

However, there are about 200 such ‘borrowers’ awaiting their turn to be the next WINNER … will you please ‘share the colors of joy’ & help?

Support the cause of RangDe by clicking here!

Remember – ‘Until we all win; we all loose!’

How is my training going on? Great! [4km on 30 Apr; 7km on 3 May; 5km on 5 May]

How are my ‘social investment’ stats looking? Well, I need lot of support from you! [Yet to reach out to 195 more ‘investors’ for Rs. 83.5k within next 18 days]

1 mm = 1 paise

April 10, 2009

Yes!

I am now a ‘Care Champion’ for the Bangalore Open 10 km RUN … which means I need your support to raise at least Rs. 1,00,000/- in social investment for NGO “RangDe Org” …

It may sound as a big goal – but if I break it down it is just a paise for every millimeter of distance I RUN 🙂

If you have not yet visited their site, RangDe is a social initiative that aims to make low cost micro credit a reality. It provides an online platform http://rangde.org that connects a social investor to a needy individual, looking for a means to set up or expand his means of livelihood. RangDe believes in providing a sustainable alternative to charity and this has been endorsed with a 100% repayment rate after more than a year of operation.

RangDe defines a ‘social investor’ as anyone who can lend as little as Rs.500 and in return gets a nominal interest rate and tons of goodwill. RangDe’s participation in this marathon event is aimed at raising ‘social investments’ and awareness. So jump onto the band wagon and be a winner too! Help “share the colours of joy.” The rewards are immeasurable and guaranteed to last long.

In next 42 days, I have to raise atleast Rs. 95,000/- (social investment and not charity) and I cannot do this without help and support of each one of you … so, please get in touch with me to find out how can you chip in …

I have also added one more measure for success of this endeavour – I want to reach out to 199 more ‘social investors’. Keep watching this space for achievement statistics.

How is my preparation going on? Well, I am on track!
05 Apr – Sun – participated in 5 km FundRaiser RUN at Gurgaon
07 Apr – Tue – 3 km RUN in nearby park
10 Apr – Fri – 2.5 km RUN in the park

And last but not the least – I still want Aamir Khan to be one of the 199 social investors I am trying to reach out to 🙂

can you connect me with Aamir Khan?

February 13, 2009

Before I tell you why I want to get in touch with Aamir, you will have to read this short story (even if it is a repeat) –

There was a farmer who grew award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won a blue ribbon …

One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors.

“How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?” the reporter asked.

“Why sir,” said the farmer, “didn’t you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn.”

I am sure you would be touched by knowing how much aware the farmer is about the connectedness of life – His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor’s corn also improves!

www.RangDe.org will help you in growing good corn … and thereby contribute to the dream of Nobel Peace laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus

RangDe

RangDe

But the problem is — not everyone is aware about it … so, I want Aamir Khan (instant connect with the name ‘RangDe’, isn’t it?) to become a ‘social investor’ and write about it on his blog. Can you please help me?!?

Thank you so much! 🙂

350

February 11, 2009

350

When 17 schools from Delhi & Gurgaon participated in the Tiger Fest 2009 (organized by http://www.kidsfortigers.org & supported by TCS) on 11th Feb at ‘The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar’, I was there to witness the above ‘350‘ formation 🙂

I found the idea of http://www.NewNationalAnimal.com very innovative …

Other interesting competition that I enjoyed watching was the ‘Animal Sounds contest’

It is ‘attracted’ again!

January 10, 2009

I am not sure how many uttered a ‘wow’ on the power of Law of Attraction as suspected in my previous post

If you are still in doubt, let me tell you this – it gets ‘attracted’ again!!! Yes, the ‘Hot Air Balloon’ comes to Gurgaon (probably for the first time; atleast in the recent history) on 10 Jan!

There were so many challenges in making this dream come true … but there were even more ‘inspired thoughts’ in action behind the scenes of this ‘miracle’.

Stay tuned for some pictures of the day!

Go ahead and attract what you want – Your wish is the command of the Universe 🙂

PS: You guessed it right – I prefer ‘flying’ to RUN 😀 … and therefore practice for the big day is not what I wanted it to be … but stiil, I am all set and with the experience of my 1st half-marathon I know it will be a cake-walk on 18th Jan … See you MUMBAI!

RUN Registration Exchange?

September 1, 2008

Ever since I started sharing updates about running, my ideas have taken a back seat …

So, how about an idea related to the RUN … I know several friends who somehow missed to register for the Mumbai Marathon (all categories) before the positions were closed (blame it on too early announcement of registrations?) … And I am sure there would be people who have registered but would not be able to make it (for whatever reason) … So, why PROCAM (the event organizers) does not come up with a Registration Exchange?!? … (anyone listening out there?)

All those who are in need of registration will share their ‘BUY’ orders and those who have registered but may not be able to take part on the race day will share their ‘SELL’ orders (and let the supply/demand guide the terms of trade)

my first (and worst) – 12 KM in 4 hours! :-(

August 14, 2008

It is true that these days most of my blogs contain updates of my training for the half marathon project. However, this has nothing to do with my running.

Today (14 Aug 2008) was the worst day as far as my commute to home back from my office goes. The distance of about 12 KM took me about 4 hours in my car! 😦 If I go by my current times on the treadmill, I would probably have RAN the same distance in just one-fourth time …

The incessant downpour had certainly played a vital role … However, the traffic jams on the busy & narrow street (near my office) are not uncommon anymore …

Last Thursday (7 Aug 2008), I read on the front page of Times of India (New Delhi) that ‘Cars idling at crossings (in just Delhi) burn Rs 1,000cr a year‘ … More than a year ago, Swaminoics had listed out ‘The hidden social costs of vehicles

It is not a news item anymore that we waste so much of time (& money), fuel (& money), peace of mind (and some times even precious life – on account of road rage) … almost in every major city and town. If this is the cost of growth & development then even at the risk of sounding pessimist (or leftist!) I would go for slowdown of economy. We all know that ‘economies of scale’ have a threshold on the inverted U curve. I think growth (or atleast the speed of development) has crossed such a threshold or tipping point and the ‘costs’ outweigh the ‘benefits’

This is NOT the solution!

This is NOT the solution!

This big ‘monster’ problem certainly needs ‘ideas’ … any sharp brains listening?
