My RUN practice is back to usual regularity 🙂 … It is just 7 weeks to go before I run my first half-marathon!

when you hit a rough patch …

September 15, 2008

Today, while driving to work, I literally hit upon a rough patch of road. And this offered me two choices —
the easier one – to curse it (and everyone responsible for it)
OR
the better one – to thank it for reminding me how good the road till then was AND to thank the road (and everyone responsible) for such a good/smooth ride till I hit upon this patch!

I think you guessed it already! 🙂

I ‘thank’ the past week to remind me ‘how regular my RUN practice was’ till this rough patch (as far as my RUNing goes) came up 🙂

Here is a picture that captured happy expressions of kids from local NGO after they participated in 7th Sep’s RunningAndLiving.com event!

Mon – 8 sep – Rest (planned)
Tue – 9 sep – Rock On! (unplanned rest)
Wed – 10 sep – ‘The Secret’ (more on this later; unplanned rest)
Thu – 11 sep – 6.5 KM in 42 mins (on treadmill)
Fri – 12 sep – Rest (planned)
Sat – 13 sep – ‘TeachIndia’ (not written anything about this yet!?)
Sun – 14 sep – Just 2 KM in the park (almost rest; unplanned)

Your support for my RUN4GAIA plans will motivate me to ensure that such rough patches do not reoccur 🙂

Ready? Steady? GO! (Delhi half-marathon)

September 9, 2008

I just tried the phone number running in the ticker on http://adhm.indiatimes.com/ and got to know the latest news! – Registrations for the Delhi half-marathon (scheduled on 9 Nov 2008) will start from 10 Sep 2008 (and will close on 15 Oct 2008 OR earlier) …

So, keep watching the site and hurry! From what we have seen in SCMM09, the registrations may close pretty fast!

It seems my RUN4GAIA plans may materialize sooner than expected … I am already in shape to do a half-marathon in a month or so 🙂

Just 60 days to go … WOW! …. Facebook group for ADHM is here … come, join the FUN!

darr ke aage jeet hai

September 8, 2008

Another tag line that I like (after ‘Impossible is Nothing’) is – ‘Darr ke aage jeet hai

In one of the Leadership workshops, I participated in rappelling. While reflecting on the activities, I had later commented the following in our journal — ‘The first step from top of the building in rappelling was what I found the most difficult part … And that is also what I want to never forget as learning. “Only the first step is often the hardest. Anything that looks very tough is not that difficult beyond the initial plunge.”

So, give up your ‘darr‘ and join me for the ‘jeethere

Mon – 1 Sep – Rest

Tue – 2 Sep – 1 KM (7 min) + 6.25 KM (34 min) – taking ‘warm-up & cool-down’ advice seriously after last week’s fiasco 🙂

Wed – 3 Sep – Was supposed to run 5 km but took rest (on account of the training session that I conducted)

Thu – 4 Sep – ~7.25 km in ~45 min (on treadmill)

Fri – 5 Sep – Rest

Sat – 6 Sep – Rest [was supposed to cross training for 50 minutes]

Sun – 7 Sep – Finally, participated in the 10 KM event by RunningAndLiving.com here at Gurgaon. [~11 km in ~70 min … yep, went for an extra KM 🙂 ]

RUN Registration Exchange?

September 1, 2008

Ever since I started sharing updates about running, my ideas have taken a back seat …

So, how about an idea related to the RUN … I know several friends who somehow missed to register for the Mumbai Marathon (all categories) before the positions were closed (blame it on too early announcement of registrations?) … And I am sure there would be people who have registered but would not be able to make it (for whatever reason) … So, why PROCAM (the event organizers) does not come up with a Registration Exchange?!? … (anyone listening out there?)

All those who are in need of registration will share their ‘BUY’ orders and those who have registered but may not be able to take part on the race day will share their ‘SELL’ orders (and let the supply/demand guide the terms of trade)

Mon – 25 Aug 08 – Rest

Tue – 26 Aug 08 – 6.5 KM in 33:40 minutes (on treadmill)

Wed – 27 Aug 08 – oops .. the right knee is in pain (got obsessed with speed on tuesday?) No running today 😦

Thu – 28 Aug 08 – Busy and more (No running again!) 😦

Fri – 29 Aug 08 – Rest (what’s this? now, it is the left knee that is showing up signs of pain. However, good that today was anyway a ‘rest’ day 🙂 )

Sat – 30 Aug 08 – Rest continued (second volunteering session for TeachIndia – its fun!)

Sun – 31 Aug 08 – Back in shape! Completed the stipulated 5 KM in 33 minutes (in the nearby park along with a friend/philosopher/guide – my PGPX syndicate-mate)

Looking forward to your comment/moral support here! (URLs for related Orkut community & FaceBook group listed on that page)
